Signs That You Might Have An Audi Fuel Pump Issue

No ‘get up and go’ when you accelerate

Audis are high-performance vehicles, so when you accelerate then there’s a ‘punch’ that you should feel in response to your pedal pressure. When you don’t feel that, then there is a possibility that the fuel pump is simply not able to provide the engine adequately with the fuel that it needs.

If this is happening in your vehicle, then it’s definitely time to get a closer look to see what’s going on with your fuel pump.

Poor mileage

Another sign that something is awry with the fuel pump is when you are not getting your usual good mileage. Provided that you are giving your Audi the high octane fuel that it needs, then it’s very possible that the fuel pump is delivering incorrectly measured amounts of fuel to the engine.

In this particular case, it’s delivering more than necessary, resulting in poor mileage and inefficient combustion. This will definitely require a thorough inspection to get your Audi back to maximizing your mileage like the high-performance vehicle it is.

Surging, sputtering, or stalling

When your fuel isn’t being delivered efficiently, surges are a common problem, as well at sputtering or stalling. A surge is also known as ‘engine hunting’, and it basically amounts to a sudden, unexpected decrease or increase in speed. This isn’t just annoying – it’s potentially very dangerous – and needs to be checked out right away.

Sputtering and stalling are also serious signs that the fuel pump may be compromised, as the engine is simply not getting the steady flow of fuel that it needs and is responding about the way that you’d expect – those quick lurches or sudden pauses accurately reflect the uneven flow of fuel to your engine.

Your Audi simply won’t start

If you turn the ignition and your console lights up, the engine tries to turn, but you get no further than that, then this might be the fuel pump – especially if you’ve been getting some of the other symptoms that we described in the earlier sections for some time now.
